Related Outline
An experimental physicist with a keen interest in discerning the principles governing the dynamic and complex phenomena inherent in biological systems. Our research is mostly grounded in experimental physics, encompassing soft matter physics, including polymers and viscoelastic fluids, as well as the study of collective dynamics exhibited by single cells and cell populations. Our long-term goal is to find a new field bridging the gap between life and matter through the concept of condensed matter physics. In pursuit of this objective, we have recently expanded our research to include theoretical works and numerical studies.
Career
Yusuke received his Ph.D degree from the University of Tokyo, Department of Physics, in 2008. Following that, he conducted his postdoctoral research at the Rockefeller University with Professor Albert Libchaber. In 2012, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Hakubi Center for Advanced Study at Kyoto University, and later became an Associate Professor at Kyushu University, where he established his laboratory in 2015. He also served as a PRESTO researcher from 2012 to 2017 and is currently a FORESTO researcher from 2023 to present at JST.
